Good News for Farmers: &#39;Send Rs 12,000 Instead of Rs 6,000 in Accounts&#39;

The Parliament Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing has recommended renaming the Ministry of Agriculture and increasing the annual amount of the PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana from Rs 6,000 to Rs12,000.



The committee, chaired by Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi, presented its report on Tuesday in Parliament on the demand for grants for 2024-25. The committee stated that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare should be renamed the Department of Agriculture, Farmers and Agricultural Labour Welfare, recognising the role of agricultural labourers. It recommended that the benefits of seasonal incentives given to farmers should also be extended to sharecroppers and agricultural labourers. Mandatory crop insurance for small farmers has been recommended. The committee stated that farmers with land holdings up to two hectares should receive the benefits of crop insurance on the lines of the central government&#8217;s Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. It further recommended the speedy establishment of a National Minimum Livelihood Wage Commission for agricultural labourers to ensure they receive their pending entitlements.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Need to Grant Legal Status to MSP</h2>



The report stated that the proper implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) is crucial for agricultural reforms and farmers&#8217; welfare. The committee suggested that a legally binding MSP should be implemented to provide farmers with economic stability. The committee recommended launching a loan waiver scheme for farmers and agricultural labourers, along with increasing the budget of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

GST Raid on Go Gas Plants in Raipur and Durg

The GST department has conducted a major raid in Raipur and Durg. A team of over a dozen officials raided Go Gas&#8217;s plant in Siltara. The raid included the Siltara plant, offices in Raipur, and a plant in Durg. 



It is reported that the GST team raided Go Gas&#8217;s bottling and refilling plant located in Phase 2 of the Siltara industrial area. This is a private plant. Currently, the GST team is examining documents, stock, and tax-related files. A 25-member GST team has been deployed to investigate all three locations. The findings of the search have not yet been disclosed (GST Raid). GST officials are scrutinising records from the past three years.



The bottling and refilling plant of private Go Gas, which has been raided by the GST team, is a private plant. Before the government&#8217;s Indane gas plant was established in the area, this plant refilled Indane gas cylinders. However, after the government&#8217;s Indane bottling and refilling plant was built near Mandhar, this plant started refilling Bharat Gas cylinders. Similarly, after Bharat Gas&#8217;s government bottling and refilling plant was built near Tilda, this plant has been refilling cylinders for the private Go Gas company.

Due to rising pollution, schools up to class 5 in Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have been closed. Madhya Pradesh schools will have winter break from 31 December 2024 to 4 January 2025. With 5th December being a Sunday, schools will resume on 6 January 2025.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Punjab</h2>



Punjab schools will have winter break from 24 December 2024 to 31 December 2024. Schools will resume on 1 January 2025.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chhattisgarh</h2>



Government schools in Chhattisgarh will have a 6-day holiday from 23 to 28 December. 29 December is a Sunday. Kendriya Vidyalayas in Raipur division will be closed from 24 December to 2 January.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jammu &amp; Kashmir</h2>



Schools up to class 5 in Jammu &amp; Kashmir will be closed from 10 December 2024 to 28 February 2025. Schools from classes 6 to 12 will be closed from 16 December 2024 to 28 February 2025.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">States Yet to Announce Holidays</h2>



Delhi government schools have not yet announced holidays. However, it is expected that winter holidays might be from the first week of January until the 15th. Haryana, Rajasthan, and Bihar have not officially announced school holidays yet.

Holidays Calendar 2025: The calendar for holidays falling in the year 2025 has been released. Most holidays fall on weekdays. Festivals like Makar Sankranti, Eid, and Diwali are not falling on Sundays.



According to the Uttar Pradesh government&#8217;s calendar, 6 January will be Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, 14 January 2025 (Tuesday) will be Makar Sankranti and Hazrat Ali&#8217;s birthday, a holiday. Republic Day on 26 January is a national holiday, but it falls on a Sunday. 26 February 2025 (Wednesday) is Maha Shivratri, 13 March (Thursday) is Holika Dahan, and 14 March will also be a holiday for Holi. 31 March 2025 will be a holiday for Eid ul-Fitr.

The Education Minister of the Yogi government has clarified his stand on teacher recruitment. He has stated in the assembly that no teacher recruitment will be conducted in UP.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Member of Legislative Assembly from Meja Raises Question on Teacher Recruitment</h2>



On the second day of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly session, Meja MLA Sandeep Patel raised questions about the irregularities in the reservation in the 69000 teacher recruitment. He said, “I want to know from the honourable minister what is the fault of those teachers who have been wronged. Until a decision comes from the court, will the government consider making separate provisions for the teachers?” MLA Sandeep Patel also raised questions about the closure of basic education schools.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What did the Minister say regarding teacher recruitment?</h2>



He clarified that if the education department feels the need for teachers in the future, the recruitment process will be started. He also said that there is currently no proposal for any kind of teacher recruitment. Regarding the 69000 teacher recruitment, the minister said that our government is taking full initiative in this matter. He also stated that there are no plans to close any school.

CG Suicide News: A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Hariharno family residing at Gandhi Chowk in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. On Tuesday, a son, deeply distressed by his father&#8217;s prolonged illness, committed suicide by hanging himself.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CG Suicide News: Son commits suicide by hanging</h2>



Following the news of his son&#8217;s death, the ailing father also succumbed to shock and passed away. The family is devastated by the simultaneous deaths of father and son. Their funeral pyres were carried together, and their last rites were performed at the local cremation ground at 4 pm.



According to the police, the son, who committed suicide by hanging, left a suicide note. In the note, he mentioned his distress at witnessing his father&#8217;s illness as the reason for his suicide. According to the Kotwali police, Amit Kumar Hariharno, a resident of Gandhi Chowk, committed suicide by hanging himself at home on Tuesday. His family informed the Kotwali police.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Father and Son&#8217;s Funeral Pyre</h2>



The police investigated the scene and sent Amit&#8217;s body for post-mortem. During the investigation, a suicide note was found near the deceased Amit. In it, he wrote that he could not bear to see his father, Vijay Kumar Hariharno, suffering from a prolonged illness.



The news of his son&#8217;s suicide reached the ailing father, Vijay Kumar, and he too died of shock. The last rites of both father and son were performed on Tuesday at the Muktidham in Lakholi.

Rohit was trying to punch the ball; he should have defended it. He&#8217;s not scoring runs at the moment, which is putting pressure on him.&#8221; Pujara further added that Rohit used to be an opener, but now he&#8217;s batting at number 6. &#8220;Doing so doesn&#8217;t help you with your batting; it doesn&#8217;t help you find your rhythm,&#8221; he stated.



Following Rohit&#8217;s early dismissal in the match, excellent batting performances from KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja propelled India&#8217;s score past 200. A half-century partnership between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja was witnessed. Veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon ended this partnership, having Rahul caught by Steve Smith for 84 runs. Rahul&#8217;s innings of 139 balls included 8 fours. Pat Cummins dismissed Ravindra Jadeja for 77 runs. Jadeja&#8217;s innings of 123 balls included 7 fours and 1 six.



Subsequently, Jasprit Bumrah (10) and Akash Deep (27) added a crucial 39 runs for the last wicket, saving India from the follow-on. Currently, the rain-affected match seems to be heading towards a draw. Australia will therefore attempt to quickly dismiss the Indian innings and bat rapidly to force India into a quick fourth innings.

CM Yogi's Winter Relief: Night Patrols Ensure Shelter for All Amidst Bitter Cold in Gorakhpur

Given the cold wave and winter season, CM Yogi has launched a special relief campaign for the needy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has explicitly instructed that no individual should sleep in the open; they should be provided shelter in the nearest night shelters.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Officials shifted people sleeping on the streets to night shelters</h2>



Following the Chief Minister&#8217;s instructions, the administration has launched a campaign of night inspections and visits. Under this initiative, officials have been working to take homeless individuals sleeping on the streets to night shelters. The Relief Commissioner has directed all District Magistrates that no one should sleep in the open during the cold wave, and they should be provided shelter in the nearest night shelters. In this regard, the Gorakhpur district administration has instructed the City Magistrate, Additional City Magistrate, SDM, and Tehsildars to actively participate in the campaign.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">ADM Finance, Gorakhpur</h2>



According to Gorakhpur&#8217;s Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) and the officer in charge of disaster management, Vineet Kumar Singh, a large-scale campaign is being conducted daily to help the destitute and poor given the increasing cold. Along with sending those sleeping on the streets to night shelters, blankets and bonfires are also being provided to them. Active inspections have been started from Monday night.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">14 night shelters operating in Gorakhpur city</h2>



Currently, 14 night shelters are operating in the Gorakhpur urban area, four of which were inspected by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 10 December. Furthermore, he also instructed the construction of three new night shelters. Besides Gorakhpur city, a one-night shelter is also operating in each of the Nagar Panchayats.

In the wake of the severe cold and cold wave, the Yogi government has issued a strict order that no homeless person should be found sleeping on the streets at night.
