<p><strong>Delhi Assembly Election 2025 Schedule Live:</strong></p>



<p>The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi released the final voter list, stating a total electorate of 1.55 crore. The CEO&#8217;s office, R. Ellis Vaz, stated that 1.67 lakh (1.09%) new names have been added to the list since the publication of the draft list on 29 October 2024.</p>



<p>“A total of 3,08,942 names have been added and a total of 1,41,613 names have been deleted from the draft publication to the final publication. Therefore, there has been a net increase of 1,67,329 voters during this period,” the statement said.</p>

Earthquake: Nepal Shaken by 7.1 Quake, Tremors Felt in Delhi, UP, Bihar, Bengal


<p><strong>Nepal Earthquake:</strong> Tibet Earthquake: A massive earthquake struck Tibet&#8217;s Xizang region this morning, with a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at 6:35 AM Indian Standard Time and had a depth of 10 kilometres. Following the quake, several aftershocks were felt across Tibet, Nepal, and China, causing widespread panic. Due to the earthquake in Tibet, around 1,000 houses have been destroyed in the affected region and nearby areas.</p>



<p>According to reports, Tibet&#8217;s 7.1-magnitude earthquake has killed 95 people and damaged at least 1,000 homes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multiple Tremors</h2>



<p>According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the strongest tremor, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale, struck Xizang, Tibet, at a depth of 10 kilometres at 6:35 AM. The epicentre was located at latitude 28.86 N and longitude 87.51 E. The NCS reported four earthquakes in total in Xizang. The first, at 5:41 AM, measured 4.2; the second and strongest (7.1) at 6:35 AM; the third, at 7:02 AM, measured 4.7; and the fourth, at 7:07 AM, measured 4.9.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tremors Felt in Bihar</h2>



<p>Tremors lasting approximately 30 seconds were felt across several districts in Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, Munger, Araria, Sitamarhi, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Nawada, and Nalanda. However, no reports of damage or casualties have been received so far.</p>



<p>According to reports, China&#8217;s army is conducting a rescue operation in the earthquake-affected region. A team of more than 50 soldiers is stationed at the site, working to rescue people trapped under the rubble and transport them to hospitals. Those with minor injuries are being provided with first aid at the scene itself.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">History of Devastating Earthquakes</h2>



<p>Nepal is a seismically active region and has experienced several major earthquakes in the past. In 2015, two devastating earthquakes struck Nepal, resulting in over 9,000 deaths and 22,309 injuries.</p>

<p><strong>Weather Update:</strong> Several states in North India, including Delhi-NCR, are in the grip of cold weather. Dense fog and cold waves are causing significant difficulties. The IMD has also predicted the first heavy rainfall of the new year in Delhi. The cold wave is expected to intensify in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Dense fog in states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh is causing problems for road and rail traffic. <p>In Punjab, dense to very dense fog is expected in many areas today. A cold wave is also likely. Similar conditions are expected on January 8th and 9th.</p>

<p>Dense fog is also expected to start the day in Haryana. An orange alert has been issued for fog for the next two days. Dense fog is also expected in Chandigarh today.</p>

<p>Moderate fog is expected in most parts of Delhi today, with dense fog in some areas. Light drizzle is likely on the 11th and 12th of January, leading to a drop in temperature.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yellow Alert in Himachal</h2>



<p>Hill states are experiencing snowfall, with temperatures below freezing in many areas. The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will be clear today, with no forecast for fog, cold waves, or rain. Uttarakhand is also expected to have clear weather with no forecast for fog, cold waves, or rain. Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience dense fog in several areas today and tomorrow. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for two days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yellow Alert for Cold Wave in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>Rajasthan is experiencing cold weather. A yellow alert has been issued for a cold wave in the eastern and western regions today. Furthermore, there is a possibility of rain in the Bikaner, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions between 10th and 12th January.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increasing Cold in Bihar</h2>



<p>The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Bihar today. Strong winds are expected in most parts of Bihar on 7th and 8th January. The cold winds will cause a drop in temperature. Dense fog is also likely in districts like Patna, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Gaya, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Begusarai, Munger, and Bhagalpur. According to the meteorological department, a second spell of cold weather may begin in the state from today, 7th January.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature Drop in MP</h2>



<p>Madhya Pradesh is experiencing fluctuating weather. After heavy rain at the end of December and a subsequent cold wave, rain is again predicted. The meteorological department has forecast light rain in some districts of the state from 12th January.</p>


<p>IMD Weather Update: A cold wave is set to intensify across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Dense fog in states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh is expected to disrupt road transport. Bihar and Jharkhand will also experience the impact of a cold wave.</p>

School Holiday: School Breaks Extended in UP, Delhi, and Other States – See How Many Days Schools Will Remain Closed


<p><strong>School Holiday:</strong> Much of northern India is currently in the grip of a cold wave. Dense fog, along with cold winds, has enveloped several states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. In response, many states have extended school holidays. Many schools were scheduled to reopen on 6 January 2025, but the holidays have been extended due to the severity of the cold.</p>



<p>Schools in Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab remain closed. In Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi, all schools up to class 8 have been ordered closed due to the intense cold. However, no such order has been issued in Noida yet. Let&#8217;s find out which states have extended school holidays.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Holidays in Bihar (Bihar School Holiday)</h2>



<p>Patna&#8217;s District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh, issued a notice ordering the closure of all private and government schools (including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres) up to class 8 until 11 January. The timings for classes 9 to 12 have been altered.</p>



<p>Classes from 9th to 12th will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Not only Patna, but schools in many other districts of Bihar will also remain closed until 11 January. These include Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Siwan, Munger, Sheikhpura, Saran, Bettiah, and several others.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Closures in Uttar Pradesh (UP School Holiday)</h2>



<p>A severe cold wave is sweeping across most parts of Uttar Pradesh. Schools in most cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Agra, Mathura, and Varanasi, have been ordered closed. According to an alert issued by the IMD, a cold wave is expected to continue in UP in the coming days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Holiday Cheer in Rajasthan (Rajasthan School Holiday)</h2>



<p>Schools in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan have been declared closed until 9 January. Considering the extreme cold and cold wave, District Collector Dr Amit Yadav has ordered the extension of holidays for all schools up to class 8 until 9 January. However, the closure applies only to students; teachers are not on holiday. Meanwhile, in Ajmer (Ajmer School Closed), the District Collector has declared a local holiday on 7 January due to the Urs fair.</p>
