ANI reported that Sarangi was also hospitalised following the clash near Makar Dwar. Pratap Chandra Sarangi sustained a head injury. He claimed, &#8220;Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP who fell on me, causing me to fall. I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP who fell on me.&#8221;</p>

<p>Responding to the BJP MPs&#8217; allegations, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged that BJP MPs were attempting to block the entrance to the Parliament building and were pushing him. Speaking to reporters after the incident, Gandhi stated, &#8220;I was trying to enter Parliament, and BJP MPs were stopping me, pushing me, and threatening me.&#8221; When asked if Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi were also pushed, he responded, &#8220;It happened, but we are not bothered by this pushing and shoving.&#8221;</p>

Mumbai Boat Accident: 13 Dead, PM Modi Announces Rs 2 Lakh Compensation


<p>A boat travelling from the Gateway of India in Mumbai to Elephanta capsized in the Arabian Sea near Uran in Karanja, resulting in the death of 13 people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister&#8217;s National Relief Fund.</p>

<p>The Prime Minister&#8217;s Office (PMO) posted on X (formerly Twitter): “The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the boat mishap in Mumbai. The injured would be given Rs 50,000.” In a previous post, PM Modi expressed his sorrow over the Mumbai boat accident, stating, &#8220;My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The administration is providing assistance to the affected.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How did the accident happen?</h2>



<p>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the boat, named &#8216;Neil Kamal&#8217;, capsized at approximately 3:55 PM near Butcher Island in Mumbai. As of 7:30 PM, 101 people had been rescued, and 13 deaths were reported – 10 civilians and 3 naval personnel. Two individuals sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a naval hospital. Fadnavis added, &#8220;The Navy, Coast Guard, and Police conducted rescue operations using 11 crafts and 4 helicopters. Final information regarding missing persons will be available Thursday morning. The bereaved families will receive ₹500,000 from the Chief Minister&#8217;s Relief Fund. The police and navy will investigate the incident.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">President also expresses grief</h2>



<p>Media reports indicate that rescue and relief operations are ongoing with the assistance of the Navy, JNPT, Coast Guard, three boats from the Yellowgate police station, and local fishermen. President Droupadi Murmu and KC Venugopal also expressed their condolences. The President posted on X, expressing shock and sorrow at the accident between a passenger boat and an Indian Navy craft off the Mumbai coast. She offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the success of rescue and relief efforts and the speedy recovery of survivors. KC Venugopal also posted on X, expressing deep sorrow at the tragic accident offering condolences to the families of the deceased and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.</p>

<p>The Chhattisgarh Fire and Emergency Services Department has released the results of the Home Guard Physical Endurance Test (PET) 2024, conducted in September and October 2024. Candidates selected for the Home Guard written examination can view their results on the official website of the Chhattisgarh Fire and Emergency Services: <a href="https://firenoc.cg.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://firenoc.cg.gov.in/</a>. This recruitment process will fill 2,215 Home Guard positions. Candidates will need their registration ID and password to view their results.</p>

<p><strong>Amit Shah:</strong> Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday over the Ambedkar issue. On X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote that the Congress and its ecosystem believe their malicious lies can conceal their misdeeds of many years. He further wrote that if they think they can hide, especially, the disrespect shown to Dr Ambedkar by the Congress, they are mistaken. The people of India have repeatedly witnessed how a family-led party has employed every dirty trick to erase Dr Ambedkar&#8217;s legacy and humiliate SC-ST communities.</p>

<p>PM Modi wrote that the Congress&#8217;s list of insults against Dr Ambedkar is quite long. They defeated Ambedkar not once, but twice in elections. Pandit Nehru campaigned against him, making his defeat a matter of prestige. They did not bestow him with the Bharat Ratna. PM Modi stated that despite being in power for many years, they did little for Dalits and Adivasis.</p>

<p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah observed that invoking Ambedkar&#8217;s name had turned into a fashionable trend in contemporary times. He reportedly remarked that people frequently repeated Ambedkar&#8217;s name, adding that if they invoked God&#8217;s name with the same fervour, they might attain heaven for seven lifetimes. The Congress strongly criticised his statement.</p>

<p>On Wednesday, the Congress and several opposition parties staged a protest in Parliament, demanding an apology from Shah for his remarks about Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Near Parliament&#8217;s Gate No. 1, MPs from Congress, DMK, and other opposition parties gathered to protest and raised slogans against the Home Minister&#8217;s comments. Opposition MPs chanted slogans like &#8220;Jai Bhim&#8221; and &#8220;Hindustan will not tolerate the insult of Babasaheb.&#8221; Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticised Amit Shah&#8217;s speech, stating that it was in direct contradiction to the Constitution. He accused Shah of expressing intentions to alter the Constitution, which seeks to dismantle the legacy of Bhimrao Ambedkar and the foundational principles of the Constitution. The entire country is aware of this, according to Rahul Gandhi.</p>
