Maha kumbh 2025: The ongoing Maha kumbh in Prayagraj is witnessing saints and ascetics in various forms. Devotees, after taking a dip in the Sangam, are visiting the saints&#8217; camps to seek their blessings and witness their unique practices. A large number of devotees are coming to see the saints practising Hatha Yoga. Some perform it for world peace, while others for physical and mental balance. The Patrika team learned about the Hatha Yoga practices of some of these saints and ascetics:



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hands Raised for 16 Years</h2>



In the Juna Akhara, Karnapuri Maharaj has kept his hands raised for 16 years. When asked about the reason, Karnapuri Maharaj said he is doing this for world peace. He wants to establish Ram Rajya in the world and for everyone to live with love and brotherhood. He will end his Hatha Yoga practice once this is achieved.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Six Years on a Swing</h2>



Rupeshpuri Maharaj has been living on a swing for six years. He rests on the swing itself. He explained that when he goes for the royal bath (Shahi Snan), he performs it while standing. He said he has been practising Hatha Yoga for 12 years and can extend it to 24 years or even for life.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wearing 21 kg of Rudraksha</h2>



Vashistha Giri Maharaj, seen wearing 21 kg of Rudraksha, is also present at the Mahakumbh. Vashistha Giri, who is engrossed in the worship of Lord Shiva, said that he started wearing Rudraksha in 2010 after receiving Guru Diksha. Initially, their weight was less, but it gradually increased.

Saif Ali Khan Knife Attack: Attacker Injured Three, Demanded Rs 1 Crore

Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife at his Bandra residence after midnight on Wednesday. The attacker had entered the residence with the intention of robbery. Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in a bloodied condition. After surgery, he is in the ICU. His condition is reported to be out of danger. The attacker, who fled after committing the crime, has been identified through CCTV footage. The police are searching for him. The news of the attack on Saif Ali Khan has shocked the film industry.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What happened that night?</h2>



According to the FIR registered in this case, the incident took place at around 2:30 am. According to police sources, the knife-wielding attacker entered the actor&#8217;s apartment, went into the room of his youngest son Jeh Ali Khan, and demanded ₹1 crore ransom before injuring three people, including Saif, nurse Eliyamma Philips, and another staff member Geeta. This terrifying incident began when Eliyamma, the nurse looking after Saif&#8217;s four-year-old son Jehangir, heard strange noises around 2 am. Initially, she thought Kareena Kapoor Khan had checked on her son, so she went back to bed. However, when she woke up again, she saw a man emerging from the bathroom and entering Jehangir&#8217;s room. When she protested, he threatened her and demanded money. Eliama tried to stop the intruder, but in the process, she sustained injuries to her wrist and hand.



The attacker allegedly entered the building from an adjacent property and was later caught on CCTV wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Police have registered a case of robbery, trespassing, and grievous hurt, but the suspect is yet to be arrested. A police officer said, &#8220;It seems to be a clear case of robbery.&#8221; 



After the news of the attack, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and Kunal Khemu reached Saif Ali Khan&#8217;s house.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Six wounds, two-and-a-half-inch sharp piece removed from near the spine</h2>



Doctors said that Saif had six knife wounds on his body. There are two deep wounds on his back. One wound is near the spine. After neurosurgery, he underwent plastic surgery. A metal shard about two and a half inches long was removed from near his spine. It appears to be a part of the knife. Neurosurgery was performed to remove this piece and repair the leaking spinal fluid, while plastic surgery was performed due to injuries to the left hand and neck.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No driver, taken to hospital by auto</h2>



At the time of the incident, Saif&#8217;s actress wife Kareena Kapoor, along with children Taimur and Jeh, were at home. Kareena first called Saif&#8217;s son Ibrahim Khan. As there was no driver at the time, Ibrahim took them to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw around 3:30 am. Saif lives in Satguru Sharan building on Khar-Bandra Road, Mumbai. He bought it in 2013 for ₹48 crore.

Delhi Assembly Election: The BJP and Congress parties are attempting to convince the public that Arvind Kejriwal cannot become the Chief Minister again. They are citing the bail conditions imposed by the Supreme Court. Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit first made this claim, and BJP leader Pravesh Verma reiterated it on Thursday. Notably, both these leaders are contesting against Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency.



The former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, is currently out on bail in connection with the liquor scam. The Supreme Court imposed certain conditions on his bail. The Supreme Court indeed imposed certain conditions on Kejriwal&#8217;s bail, but it did not impose any restriction on him becoming the Chief Minister. The Supreme Court stated that it could not order Kejriwal to resign or not resign from the Chief Minister&#8217;s post. The court reasoned that it was uncertain whether a court could order an elected leader to resign or refrain from functioning as CM or Minister. The court left the final decision to Arvind Kejriwal. However, after being released on bail, Kejriwal stepped down as Chief Minister and handed over the reins to Atishi.

BCCI Imposes Strict New Rules, Banning Player Activities

BCCI Introduces Disciplinary Guidelines: Following India&#8217;s disappointing performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia and the preceding home Test series against New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has swung into action. This defeat prompted a review meeting involving coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and captain Rohit Sharma. Simultaneously, the board has implemented significant changes to player welfare regulations.



Taking the defeat seriously, the board has established stricter rules for players. The BCCI has made it clear that any player or staff member failing to comply will face strict action. These stringent regulations could cause increased difficulties for star players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Furthermore, the BCCI has reiterated the importance of playing domestic cricket. Players outside the national team are now required to participate in domestic matches, with selection for the national team to be based on domestic performance.



Restrictions on Family During Overseas Tours – Players will no longer be able to bring their families on extended overseas tours. The new rules stipulate that if a player is on tour for 45 days, their spouse and children under 18 can accompany them for two weeks per series. During this time, the BCCI will only cover their accommodation expenses; other costs must be borne by the player. Players must also inform the coach and captain beforehand. Family members or other individuals can only join the player with their permission. The coach, captain, and GM Operations will be held accountable for any rule violations.



No Family Travel During Matches and Practice – Players must now travel only with the team for matches and practice sessions. The BCCI believes this will foster team unity. If a player&#8217;s family needs to travel with them for any reason, permission must be obtained from coach Gautam Gambhir and selector Ajit Agarkar. Violations will result in strict penalties. Virat Kohli was frequently seen travelling with his family during the Australia tour.



Restrictions on Personal Staff – No team member can bring personal staff, including personal managers, chefs, assistants, and security personnel, on tours or during series. Recently, there was controversy surrounding coach Gautam Gambhir&#8217;s personal assistant. Previously, players like Hardik Pandya had also been in the news for bringing personal chefs.



BCCI Will No Longer Bear Players&#8217; &#8216;Burden&#8217; – According to the new baggage policy, players will not be reimbursed for items carried within the board&#8217;s stipulated guidelines. However, players will have to pay for any excess baggage themselves.

Mandatory Attendance at Practice Sessions – Players will no longer be excused from practice sessions. Star players often cite personal reasons for missing extended practice sessions. No player can leave practice sessions early. Exemptions will be determined based on workload management.



Ban on Ad Shoots During Series – The BCCI has banned players from participating in personal photoshoots or ad shoots during series or tours. No player can endorse products during this time. The board made this decision to prevent distractions.



Mandatory Participation in BCCI Official Shoots and Functions – Players must participate in all official BCCI shoots, promotions, and other programs. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action deemed appropriate by the BCCI.



Players Cannot Return Home Early After Series – All players must remain with the team until the end of the tour. Even if a series ends early, players must stay with the team. No player can return home early. Sometimes, players leave for home or holidays when a series ends early. This decision is in the interest of team bonding.



BCCI Reserves the Right to Disciplinary Action – The BCCI reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any player, including banning them from participating in all tournaments organised by the BCCI, including the IPL. D. Gukesh recently created history by winning the Chess World Championship. He is the youngest chess player in the world to achieve this feat.



Besides Gukesh, two-time Olympic medallist shooter Manu Bhaker, men&#8217;s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh, and Paralympic gold medal-winning high jumper Praveen Kumar were also conferred with the country&#8217;s highest sporting honour.



Manu Bhaker won two Olympic medals at the Paris Olympic Games in August-September. She finished third in the 10m air pistol individual and mixed doubles events. Her two medals contributed to India&#8217;s total of 6 medals at the Paris Olympics. Harmanpreet Singh, under whose captaincy the Indian hockey team won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 and a gold medal at the Asian Games 2022, was also recognised. He was also awarded the FIH Player of the Year.



Praveen Kumar won a gold medal in the men&#8217;s high jump at the Paris Paralympics 2024, breaking the Asian record. He had won a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. Praveen delivered a career-best performance in the T64 event, clearing a height of 2.08 metres and making history.
