The police force was inadequate, and the miscreants took advantage of the situation, dragging Gopal inside his house, beating him, and even firing at him. The police failed to rescue him.

It was only after the ADG took charge that the situation became calm.

Before the festival, the CM had held a video conference with the officials, including the Zone, Range, and District Magistrates. He had instructed them to be vigilant during the idol immersion. However, the violence proved that the instructions were ignored. The officers’ negligence and failure prevailed.

People from the Other Community Had Left Their Homes and Shops Before the Violence

Those who were targeted by the mob on Monday were not present at their homes and shops. They had already sensed the possibility of violence and had left their homes and shops empty. It is clear that they had anticipated the violence and had taken necessary steps to protect themselves. Some people were even rescued by the police.

Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said that after every incident, the BJP government and its ministers and leaders are in the habit of shirking responsibility.
