ED questioned actress Tamannaah Bhatia concerning the money laundering case related to HPZ Token App. ED stated that in this case, &#8216;dummy&#8217; directors of various fake companies opened bank accounts and merchant IDs. ED stated that under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Tamannaah Bhatia&#8217;s statement was recorded at the ED&#8217;s regional office. Tamannaah Bhatia received some amount as a celebrity in the company&#8217;s program. There were no criminal charges against her. In this case, several investors were allegedly cheated by promising high returns through Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A total of 299 companies accused</h2>



In this case, ED filed a charge sheet in March, accusing a total of 299 companies, including 76 Chinese-controlled companies, with 10 Chinese-origin directors, and two entities controlled by foreign nationals. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the Kohima Police&#8217;s Cyber Crime Unit. The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act for cheating investors by promising high returns through Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

New Income Tax Form: No TDS will be deducted from salary

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the budget for the financial year 2024-25 that Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) from salary will be adjusted against TDS and Tax Collected at Source (TCS) from other sources. Now, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has launched a new form for this. This form is called Form 12BAA. This form will be used by employees to inform their employers about the tax deductions made from other sources apart from their salary. This will include information about fixed deposits, insurance commissions, dividends received from equity shares, and tax deducted on car or foreign currency purchases.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rules Changed</h2>



Companies usually deduct TDS from employees&#8217; salaries based on their declarations, taking into account investments and expenses. However, employers did not adjust the tax deducted from other sources on behalf of the employees. Now, with the launch of the 12BAA form by the CBDT, this will change.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Beneficial For Employees</h2>



Through this new form, employees can provide information about TCS deposited and TDS deducted from other sources, thereby reducing the tax deduction from their salary. This step will help employees tackle cash flow problems and make better use of their income.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Law Requirement</h2>



The new law requiring employers to be informed about TDS and TCS deducted from other sources has come into effect from October 1 this year. Employees can now inform their employers about TDS or TCS deducted from other income sources or big expenses. Earlier, there was no mechanism for employers to receive such information. Now, the new form launched by the department will help employees provide this information to their employers.

RSS program witnesses intense knife attacks, chaos erupts

On Thursday night, during the distribution of sweets under the Sharad Purnima program of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Rajni Vihar, some youths were attacked with knives. After the incident, many people reached Karani Vihar police station demanding the arrest of the accused. Police said that Nasib Chaudhary and his son have been taken into custody and are being questioned.

Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, MLA Gopal Sharma, and BJP leader Arun Chaturvedi reached SMS Hospital to meet the injured. Late at night, police deployed additional forces in the surrounding areas and started searching for other youths involved in the incident.

According to the police, all the injured are associated with the Jagdamba Nagar Hira Pura branch of RSS. The injured, Shankar Bagda, Murarilal, Ram Parik, Lakhan Singh Jadoun, Pushpendra, and Dinesh Sharma, are admitted to SMS Hospital. The remaining four injured have been sent to a nearby hospital. The injured said that the knife attack took place during the distribution of sweets. The accused threw the sweets and attacked.

Nursing Counseling:

The counselling process for seats in 183 nursing colleges in Rajasthan under the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences will start today. For the first time, students will get information about the hospital attached to the college for clinical training on the website, helping them choose a college. This will open up opportunities for them to pursue quality nursing courses in the future.



In the 2024-25 session, students will have access to complete information about nursing institutions, including their parental hospital, an affiliated hospital, and whether they are listed on the Indian Nursing Council&#8217;s website while selecting colleges during the counseling process.



In the 2024-25 session, the university has received 79021 applications for BSc Nursing in 183 colleges, 882 applications for MSc Nursing in 21 colleges, and 3305 applications for Post Basic BSc Nursing in 40 colleges. The first round of counselling will start on October 18. According to the schedule, students will fill in their choices and select institutions. The institutions will allocate seats, and students will join the institutions from November 4, with the last date being November 12, 2024.

Despite the cyber police&#8217;s efforts and actions, cyber fraud cases in Madhya Pradesh are not subsiding. The situation is particularly alarming in Indore, the state&#8217;s financial capital. Online fraud cases are increasing rapidly in the city. A recent incident is a stark reminder of this. This time, the victim was a retired judge.



A retired judge ordered goods online and wanted to cancel the order. He called the cancellation number and received a link. As soon as he clicked it, his phone froze. After a considerable wait, when his phone finally resumed, he found a message indicating that Rs 1 lakh had been deducted from his account. The police have registered a case and begun their investigation.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cancelling the Order Costs Rs 1 Lakh</h2>



According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia of the Crime Branch, a retired judge from Indore fell prey to online fraud. He had ordered goods online from Swiggy, but later cancelled the order. When he searched for the online number to cancel, he found it. However, when he clicked on the link, his phone hung up, and Rs 1 lakh got deducted from his account.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Screen Sharing Mode Turned On After Clicking the Link</h2>



When the retired judge clicked on the link, the screen sharing mode turned on. He lost control of his phone, and the cybercriminals could see his OTP. Before he could understand what was happening, multiple OTPs were being sent to his phone, and Rs 1 lakh was deducted from his account. The retired judge has filed a complaint with the cybercrime branch, and the police are investigating the matter.

After the crushing defeat in Haryana, the Congress party suffered a major jolt on the evening of October 17. Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, a stalwart leader, resigned from the party. In a series of rapid-fire posts on social media, he wrote that he is not a saint but a full-time politician. Captain Ajay Singh Yadav is the son-in-law of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav.



In the morning, he wrote on social media, &#8220;I am not a saint, but a full-time politician. I will decide my future strategy only after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accepts my resignation. I will also give a detailed account of the obstacles and conspiracies that some leaders have created to harm my political career.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Past Experiences in Congress</h2>



He also claimed that he would face the media only after his resignation was accepted. He wrote, &#8220;I am waiting for Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to accept my resignation, and then I will meet the media and share my experiences of the past two years, including the harassment and humiliation I faced at the hands of some leaders.&#8221;

Captain Yadav himself shared the information on social media. He wrote, &#8220;I have resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. I am no longer the chairman of the OBC Morcha of the All India Congress Committee. The information has been sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Old Connection with Congress</h2>



Captain Yadav further wrote, &#8220;The decision to resign was very difficult for me, as my family has had a 70-year-old connection with the Congress. My late father, Rao Abhay Singh, became an MLA from the Congress in 1952, and I continued the family tradition. However, after Sonia Gandhi stepped down as Congress President, I was mistreated, and my faith in the party&#8217;s high command was shaken.&#8221;
