Despite the West Bengal government&#8217;s warning, 70 senior doctors of Calcutta Medical College and Hospital resigned on Wednesday in support of the junior doctors&#8217; agitation. Earlier, 50 senior doctors had resigned on Tuesday evening. With this, the number of senior doctors who have resigned in two days has reached 120.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Government Warns Doctors</h2>



On the other hand, the state government has termed the mass resignation as illegal and has warned doctors to individually submit their resignations. The government has said that doctors will have to continue working and that those who resign will not get a chance to work in government jobs in the future.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Indefinite Hunger Strike Continues</h2>



The junior doctors&#8217; indefinite hunger strike continued for the fifth day on Wednesday. Two junior doctors from Coochbehar Medical College also continued their hunger strike for the third day in support of their colleagues. 



Junior doctors have also organized a blood donation camp and are demanding justice for the deceased doctor by distributing pamphlets in various Durga Puja pandals in the city. Doctors from Maulana Azad Medical College, Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in Delhi also went on a hunger strike on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Amid alleged bribery and fraud charges by the US against Gautam Adani, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday called for Adani&#8217;s arrest and said that it is &#8220;clear&#8221; and &#8220;established&#8221; that the Adani Group Chairman has broken both American and Indian laws.



Earlier, a five-count criminal indictment was unsealed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, charging prominent Indian executives including the Chairman of the Adani Group Gautam Adani by linking them to an alleged bribery and fraud scheme.



&#8220;Wherever there is corruption, investigation should be done. But the investigation will begin with Adani. Unless he is arrested, it won&#8217;t be credible. So, begin it from there. Arrest Adani, interrogate him and then nab whoever is involved. In the end, Narendra Modi&#8217;s name will come out because BJP&#8217;s entire funding structure is in his hands. So, even if the PM wants, he can&#8217;t do anything. In a way, Adani has hijacked the country. India is in Adani&#8217;s grip,&#8221; Rahul Gandhi said.



Addressing a press conference, Rahul Gandhi said, &#8220;It is now pretty clear and established in America that Adani has broken both American law and Indian law. He is being indicted in the United States and I am wondering why Adani is still running around a free man in this country. Chief Ministers have been arrested and Adani has apparently done one 2000 cr scam and multiple others probably but there is no investigation.&#8221;



&#8220;We have been demanding for many days that Adani ji should be arrested. He should be arrested today itself. Madhabi Buch (SEBI Chairperson) who is his protector, who did not do any investigation, should be removed and an investigation should be done,&#8221; he further added.



The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition also alleged that the Prime Minister is protecting Adani and is involved in corruption with him.



&#8220;This has been clearly indicated. Narendra Modi gave the slogan &#8216;Ek hai to Safe hai&#8217;. In India, if Adani and Modi are one, they are safe. Nothing can be done against Adani in Hindustan. Chief Minister has been jailed for 10-15 crores but Adani does a scam of 2000 crores and he is roaming free,&#8221; Rahul said.



He also asserted that it is his responsibility as the Leader of the Opposition to raise this issue.



&#8220;The Prime Minister is 100% protecting this individual. Adani ji fully supports the BJP. These are established facts. Our demand is for a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), but we also want Adani ji to be arrested,&#8221; he added.



Rahul Gandhi also claimed that it is not about only Adani but an entire network.



&#8220;Young people in India are not getting jobs, and if someone commits even a minor crime, they end up in jail. But we want to show the country that this is not just about one individual&#8211;it&#8217;s an entire network. We have clearly exposed Madhabi Puri Buch, and we will reveal more such individuals in the future,&#8221; the Congress MP said.



Rahul Gandhi, further asserted that wherever such scams happen, whether under an Opposition government or BJP, there should be an investigation, and punishment must be given.



&#8220;But the investigation must begin with Adani ji because the BJP&#8217;s entire funding structure is in his hands. In a way, Adani ji has hijacked India. We have successfully proven to every youngster in the country that Adani ji and Modi ji are the same thing. We will reveal the entire network to the country. The truth will come out, and we are not going to back down,&#8221; he said.



The LoP also mentioned that retail investors are being put at risk.



&#8220;This is why we raised the issue of Madhabi Buch, as her responsibility is to protect retail investors. Adani ji has lied to investors in both America and India. When America is saying that he committed crimes, why are the CBI and SEBI silent here?&#8221; Rahul asked further.



However, in its first reaction, the spokesperson of Adani Group denied all allegations made by the US prosecutors.



&#8220;The allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of Adani Green are baseless and denied. As stated by the US Department of Justice itself, &#8216;the charges in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.&#8217; All possible legal recourse will be sought. The Adani Group has always upheld and is steadfastly committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance, transparency and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions of its operations. We assure our stakeholders, partners and employees that we are a law-abiding organisation, fully compliant with all laws,&#8221; a statement from Adani group said.

Georgetown [Guyana]: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred with the &#8216;Dominica Award of Honour&#8217;, the highest national award of Dominica, during his state visit to Guyana.

New Delhi [India]: After a US District Court in New York charged the Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, linking him and others to an alleged bribery and fraud scheme, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday that it vindicated the demand that the Congress was making for a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the various alleged scams.



In a post on X, Jairam said, &#8220;The indictment of Gautam Adani and others by the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) of the US vindicates the demand that the Indian National Congress has been making since Jan 2023 for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the various Modani scams. The INC had asked a hundred questions in its Hum Adani ke Hain (HAHK) series bringing out the various dimensions of these scams and of the intimate nexus that has existed between the PM and his favourite businessman. These questions have remained unanswered.&#8221;



The Congress leader also mentioned that the SEC&#8217;s actions also cast a poor light on the manner in which its &#8220;Indian counterpart, namely SEBI&#8221;, has gone about investigating alleged violations of securities and other laws by the Adani Group.



&#8220;The INC reiterates its demand for a JPC in the transactions of the Adani Group, which is leading to growing monopolization in key sectors of the Indian economy, fuelling inflation, and posing huge foreign policy challenges as well, especially in our neighbourhood,&#8221; Jairam Ramesh said further.



According to the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office, Eastern District of New York, &#8220;A five-count criminal indictment was unsealed in federal court charging Gautam Adani, Sagar R. Adani, and Vneet S. Jaain, with conspiracies to commit securities and wire fraud and substantive securities fraud for their roles in a multi-billion-dollar scheme to obtain funds from U.S. investors and global financial institutions based on false and misleading statements.&#8221;



The indictment also charges Ranjit Gupta and Rupesh Agarwal, former executives of a renewable-energy company with securities that had traded on the New York Stock Exchange (the U.S. Issuer), and Cyril Cabanes, Saurabh Agarwal and Deepak Malhotra, former employees of a Canadian institutional investor, with conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in connection with the alleged bribery scheme.



&#8220;As alleged, the defendants orchestrated an elaborate scheme to bribe Indian government officials to secure contracts worth billions of dollars and Gautam S. Adani, Sagar R. Adani and Vneet S. Jaain lied about the bribery scheme as they sought to raise capital from U.S. and international investors,&#8221; stated United States Attorney Breon Peace.



The indictment also accuses the executive of obstructing investigations by the FBI, Department of Justice (DOJ), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).



The US Attorney&#8217;s office says that the charges in the indictment are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The investigation was conducted by the FBI New York&#8217;s Corporate, Securities and Commodities Fraud and International Corruption Units.



The government&#8217;s case is being handled by the Business and Securities Fraud Section of the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office for the Eastern District of New York and the Criminal Division&#8217;s Fraud Section.



There has been no response so far from the office of Gautam Adani or others named in the indictment. (ANI)

Rajasthan air pollution: AQI soars past 300; 5 NCR-linked districts face closure

The problem is increasing day by day. Along with Jaipur, the air quality index (AQI) has crossed 250-400 in many cities including Bhivadi, Sikar, Shri Ganganagar, Kota, Tonk, and Hanumangarh.



Jaipur&#8217;s air is also becoming very bad. The level of air pollution is increasing day by day, reaching the &#8216;bad to very bad&#8217; category. The city&#8217;s air quality index (AQI) has reached 200-300. Even for healthy people, the air has become very bad.



According to the Central Pollution Control Board&#8217;s online data monitoring, Jaipur&#8217;s air pollution has been constantly increasing over the past 5 days. It has reached the &#8216;bad to very bad&#8217; category. On November 16, the AQI was 188, which increased to 179 on November 17. On November 18, it reached the &#8216;bad&#8217; category, with an AQI of 210, which further increased to 220 on November 19. On Wednesday, Jaipur&#8217;s average AQI reached 251, with the highest AQI recorded at 300. In Sitapura, Mansarovar, and Murlipura, the level of PM-2.5 and PM-10 has crossed 400, which is a serious situation.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five NCR-linked districts</h2>



In 5 districts connected to NCR, including Alwar, Bharatpur, Deeg, Tijara-Khairthal, and Bahrod-Kotputli, mining, crusher stone work, brick kilns have been shut down. Work on flyovers, road construction, and other development projects has also been stopped. Additionally, a holiday has been declared for students from class 1 to 5 in Tijara-Khairthal.



For this, the Pollution Control Board has issued instructions to the Education Department, Mining Department, Transport Department, as well as RIICO and Industries. These instructions have been issued based on the guidelines of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas.

Rajasthan road accident: Scooty riders flung 35 feet after pickup collision, all three dead

Dausa: Three lives were lost in an accident on the Dausa-Manoharpur highway near Thana Mod on Wednesday. According to the police, a pickup truck collided with a scooty carrying three youths who were going to their relatives&#8217; village.



The collision was so intense that the three scooty riders were thrown 35 feet away, and one of them flew over the flyover railing and fell to the ground. The sound of the collision was so loud that people gathered at the spot to rescue them. The people who reached the spot informed the ambulance, which arrived within 15 minutes. Two youths died on the spot, and the third youth who fell under the flyover was given CPR by the villagers, but he also died after a few minutes.



The police and ambulance took the three youths to the community health centre, where they were declared dead. Due to the nighttime, the bodies were kept in the mortuary, and the post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday morning. The family members of the deceased were in a state of shock when they reached the hospital. The pickup truck driver fled the scene, and the police seized the vehicle.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Deceased</h2>



Dilraj (25) son of Giriraj Meena, Ranveer (22) son of Bhajan Lal Meena, and Vishnu (27) son of Pappu Meena, all residents of Rohra Kalan, Dausa district, lost their lives in the accident. Dilraj and Vishnu were maternal uncle and nephew, and Ranveer was Dilraj&#8217;s friend and neighbour. Dilraj&#8217;s father had also died in a road accident 10 years ago.



Dilraj&#8217;s elder brother Kuldeep got married on November 12, and Ranveer&#8217;s father earns a living by driving a tempo. Vishnu was married and had a small daughter. The families of the deceased are in a state of shock.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Accident in 15 Days</h2>



This is the second road accident on the highway in the last 15 days. Earlier, on November 6, two youths died in an accident near the same flyover. The graph of accidents on the highway is increasing, and the villagers are demanding that the government make the Dausa-Manoharpur highway four-lane to reduce accidents.

The collision was so intense that the three scooty riders were thrown 35 feet away, and one of them flew over the flyover railing and fell to the ground.

Rajasthan: Former BJP leader murdered while buying vegetables

Jaipur&#8217;s Banskhoh gram panchayat Ugawas&#8217;s Lalpura village resident and former BJP Mandal President Gandeelal Meena died on Wednesday during treatment. In this regard, a case of murderous attack has been filed against 5-6 people at Tunga police station by the deceased&#8217;s brother. 



The deceased&#8217;s brother Bhuraram has stated in the FIR that Gandeelal Meena was buying vegetables at a shop near Patan Chowk on Tuesday evening when a car stopped. There were 5-6 people in it. Three of them had covered their faces with cloth. All of them got down from the car and launched a lethal attack on his brother Gandeelal. 



He has accused Ram Baksh Meena, Gangadhar Meena, a resident of Patan, and three others of being involved in the attack. Gandeelal was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to Banskhoh CHC by residents. Due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to Jaipur, where he died on Wednesday evening at a hospital in Mansarovar.
