Bengaluru’s Vinayak Nagar, Vyaliaval has witnessed a spine-chilling incident. 29-year-old Mahalaxmi, who was living alone for the past five months, was brutally murdered. Her body was cut into more than 30 pieces and kept in the fridge of her rented house.

The incident came to light

The horrific incident came to light when neighbors complained of a foul smell coming from the locked house, and informed the police. The police contacted the landlord, who in turn informed Mahalaxmi’s family. When the family members arrived, they found Mahalaxmi’s mutilated body parts kept in the fridge. The forensic team and police investigators found that Mahalaxmi’s mobile phone had been switched off since September 2. Based on the condition of the body and electronic evidence found at the crime scene, the police believe that the murder took place inside the house and the body was cut into pieces and kept in the fridge.

Mahalaxmi got married 5 years ago

Originally from Nepal, Mahalaxmi got married to Hemant Das five years ago. The couple has a four-year-old child. However, their relationship turned sour, and Mahalaxmi started living in Bengaluru alone. She worked as a salesperson in a mall and didn’t interact much with her neighbors.

Former husband claims she had an affair with Ashraf

According to Mahalaxmi’s former husband Hemant Das, she had an affair with Ashraf. Karnataka Home Minister Parameshwar has stated that the accused is suspected of hiding in West Bengal. The woman’s body was found in an apartment in Bengaluru. The Home Minister has denied any arrests so far. The police have stated that Mahalaxmi was living alone in a rented house in the Vyaliaval area. Her husband arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident and accused Ashraf, a hairdresser, of the crime.

What did her brother say?

According to her brother Sunil, who works in Koramangala, Mahalaxmi had not been in touch with them for several days. He told the media, “I received information from a relative and came to meet her. We hadn’t spoken or met in a while.” A neighbor stated that Mahalaxmi had moved to the first floor of the building five months ago. The neighbor said, “She hardly ever came home, leaving at 9:30 am and returning at 10:30 pm. A man who claimed to be her brother stayed with her for some time, but we didn’t know she was married.”

The police are now investigating her workplace to find out why no one questioned her absence. Officials are also tracking a person who used to visit her frequently and take her away.

A case of murder has been registered, and the officers are working to track down the person suspected to be involved in the crime. Investigators are analyzing the call records to identify the main suspect, who is believed to be her male acquaintance.
