Martyrs of the Bijapur IED blast to be bid farewell today, CM Sai to pay tribute in Dantewada


<p><strong>Bijapur IED Blast:</strong> In a major attack at the start of 2025, Naxals, defeated in 2024, launched a large-scale assault on security forces. Naxals ambushed a vehicle carrying security personnel near Ambeli Nala in Kutro, Bijapur, triggering an IED blast. The attack resulted in the deaths of eight DRG and Bastar Fighters personnel, along with the driver.</p>



<p>Reports suggest that all the personnel were returning from an operation in Abujhmad on Sunday  and hailed from Dantewada and Bijapur. The explosion occurred at 2:15 pm. The blast was so powerful that the vehicle was completely destroyed, with the soldiers&#8217; clothing and body parts found entangled in tree branches. Identifying the vehicle itself proved difficult; its parts were found hanging from a tree at a height of 25 feet. A 10-foot crater was left on the road.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Naxals Aware of Return Route</h2>



<p>It is believed that the Naxals were aware of the route the security personnel would take after completing the operation. This route has been used by security forces returning from Abujhmad operations in the past. The martyred soldiers were from Dantewada and were returning after completing a joint operation. The Naxals knew the location of a heavy IED and used it, connecting long wires to trigger the blast.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wire Connected 200 Metres from Blast Site</h2>



<p>The Naxals detonated the IED on the main road. They climbed a tree 200 metres away from the blast site to connect the IED wires. This is a common tactic used by Naxals in Bastar when conducting IED blasts on roads. Their elevated position provides a clear view of vehicle movement, allowing them to connect the wires as the vehicle approaches the IED.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Naxals are Frustrated, Their End is Near</h2>



<p>Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Vishnu Dev Sai, stated that eight personnel and a driver were martyred in the blast. He paid tribute to their sacrifice, assuring that it would not be in vain. He attributed the cowardly act to the frustration of the Naxals due to their continuous defeats. He expressed confidence that Naxalism would soon be eradicated from Chhattisgarh, restoring peace to the region.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sai Says…Sacrifice Will Not Be in Vain</h2>



<p>Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai paid tribute to the martyred personnel, assuring that their sacrifice would not be in vain. He stated that the Naxals&#8217; continuous defeats have led to their frustration and cowardly acts. He expressed confidence that Naxalism would soon be eradicated from Chhattisgarh, restoring peace to the region.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Amit Shah Says…Elimination of Naxalism by 2026</h2>



<p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X (formerly Twitter) expressing deep sorrow at the loss of DRG personnel in the Bijapur IED blast. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the brave soldiers, stating that their sacrifice would not be in vain. He reiterated the government&#8217;s commitment to eliminating Naxalism from Indian soil by March 2026.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bijapur IED Blast: Bodies of Martyred Personnel Brought to Dantewada</h2>



<p>A tribute programme is scheduled for today at the Dantewada district headquarters, where Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai will pay homage to the martyred personnel. According to the schedule, CM Sai will arrive in Dantewada at 10:50 am to pay his respects.</p>

<p><strong>Nepal Earthquake:</strong> A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Tibet near the Nepal border today, with tremors felt across several parts of India, including Delhi-NCR, Bihar, and Assam. Nepal sits in a geologically active zone where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates collide, forming the Himalayas and resulting in frequent earthquakes. The tremors were particularly noticeable in Bihar, where people were seen rushing out of their homes and apartments. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multiple Tremors</h2>



<p>According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the strongest tremor, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale, struck Xizang, Tibet, at a depth of 10 kilometres at 6:35 AM. The epicentre was located at latitude 28.86 N and longitude 87.51 E. The NCS reported four earthquakes in total in Xizang. The first, at 5:41 AM, measured 4.2; the second and strongest (7.1) at 6:35 AM; the third, at 7:02 AM, measured 4.7; and the fourth, at 7:07 AM, measured 4.9.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tremors Felt in Bihar</h2>



<p>Tremors lasting approximately 30 seconds were felt across several districts in Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, Munger, Araria, Sitamarhi, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Nawada, and Nalanda. However, no reports of damage or casualties have been received so far.</p>

<p>National Seeds Corporation Online Exam Paper Leak: Jaipur police have made a major revelation in the case of the online exam paper leak of the National Seeds Corporation. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph and DCP West Amit Kumar Budania, in a press conference, stated that 25 individuals associated with the gang have been named, of whom 14 have been arrested. Eight of the arrested accused were apprehended by the West District Police and six by the SOG (Special Operations Group).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gang Operations and Technological Exploitation</h2>



<p>The investigation revealed that the gang, in collusion with employees at various examination centres, hacked the online examination system. This gang leaked exam papers using high-tech methods, affecting numerous candidates. Interrogation of the arrested accused is ongoing, and police raids are underway at other locations.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Raids Conducted</h2>



<p>Police identified the gang members and raided their locations. The Jaipur Police Commissioner stated that strict action will be taken to prevent such activities. Recommendations have been made to strengthen security measures at examination centres.</p>

<p><strong>Mukesh Chandrakar Murder Case:</strong> The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Chhattisgarh has achieved a major breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. </p>



<p>Suresh Chandrakar, the main accused in the case, was arrested late on Sunday night from Hyderabad. Suresh Chandrakar is known to be a Congress leader and contractor. </p>



<p>This arrest took place on 6th January 2025. Given the sensitive nature of the case involving the murder of a journalist, it has drawn significant media and public attention.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arrest of the Main Accused</h2>



<p>The SIT team had left for Hyderabad on Saturday to arrest Suresh Chandrakar. He was apprehended there and brought back to Chhattisgarh. Two of Suresh&#8217;s brothers, Ritesh Chandrakar and Dinesh Chandrakar, along with a labourer, have already been arrested by the police. All are accused of involvement in Mukesh Chandrakar&#8217;s murder.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Interrogation of Accused Continues</strong></h2>



<p>Mayank Gurjar, the SIT in-charge in Bijapur, stated that Suresh Chandrakar, the prime accused in the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, who had been absconding since the incident, has been taken into custody. The accused was detained late last night by the SIT from Hyderabad and is being interrogated. Mayank Gurjar further informed that three other accused have also been arrested – Ritesh Chandrakar, Dinesh Chandrakar, and Mahendra. The arrested accused are currently being questioned.</p>

Victims not only suffer financial losses but also endure significant mental distress.  </p>



<p>Recently, popular social media influencer Ankush Bahuguna fell victim to a cyber scam. Bahuguna recounted a shocking and distressing ordeal, detailing how he was held hostage by scammers for 40 hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sharing his ordeal on Instagram</h2>



<p>In a video posted on Instagram, Ankush Bahuguna, a content creator, described how he was subjected to a digital arrest, cut off from friends and family. He not only lost money but also suffered a significant impact on his mental health.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Financial loss and traumatic harassment</h2>



<p>Influencer Ankush Bahuguna stated, &#8220;I&#8217;ve been absent from social media and everywhere else for the past three days because I was held hostage by some scammers.&#8221; He added that he is still somewhat in shock, having lost both money and his mental well-being. He finds it hard to believe that this happened to him.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A call that started a nightmare</h2>



<p>Popular social media influencer Ankush Bahuguna explained that his nightmare began with a call claiming a package was being delivered to him. Curiously, Bahuguna pressed &#8220;zero&#8221; for assistance, a decision he now admits was a grave mistake, leading him to a purported customer service representative. This representative informed him that a package containing illegal substances destined for China was linked to his name. The representative further informed him that an arrest warrant had already been issued and he would soon be arrested.</p>

<p>The scammers kept him engaged in video calls for 40 hours, during which time they forced him to switch off all his gadgets. Furthermore, the fraudsters investigated every detail of his life, threatening arrest if he didn&#8217;t cooperate. During this time, he wept and begged for mercy. It was a terrifying experience.</p>

School Holiday: School Breaks Extended in UP, Delhi, and Other States – See How Many Days Schools Will Remain Closed


<p><strong>School Holiday:</strong> Much of northern India is currently in the grip of a cold wave. Dense fog, along with cold winds, has enveloped several states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. In response, many states have extended school holidays. Many schools were scheduled to reopen on 6 January 2025, but the holidays have been extended due to the severity of the cold.</p>



<p>Schools in Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab remain closed. In Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi, all schools up to class 8 have been ordered closed due to the intense cold. However, no such order has been issued in Noida yet. Let&#8217;s find out which states have extended school holidays.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Holidays in Bihar (Bihar School Holiday)</h2>



<p>Patna&#8217;s District Magistrate, Chandrashekhar Singh, issued a notice ordering the closure of all private and government schools (including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres) up to class 8 until 11 January. The timings for classes 9 to 12 have been altered.</p>



<p>Classes from 9th to 12th will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Not only Patna, but schools in many other districts of Bihar will also remain closed until 11 January. These include Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Siwan, Munger, Sheikhpura, Saran, Bettiah, and several others.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Closures in Uttar Pradesh (UP School Holiday)</h2>



<p>A severe cold wave is sweeping across most parts of Uttar Pradesh. Schools in most cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Agra, Mathura, and Varanasi, have been ordered closed. According to an alert issued by the IMD, a cold wave is expected to continue in UP in the coming days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Holiday Cheer in Rajasthan (Rajasthan School Holiday)</h2>



<p>Schools in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan have been declared closed until 9 January. Considering the extreme cold and cold wave, District Collector Dr Amit Yadav has ordered the extension of holidays for all schools up to class 8 until 9 January. However, the closure applies only to students; teachers are not on holiday. Meanwhile, in Ajmer (Ajmer School Closed), the District Collector has declared a local holiday on 7 January due to the Urs fair.</p>

<p>A severe cold wave is sweeping across many parts of the world, causing widespread discomfort. Several countries are experiencing not only freezing temperatures but also blizzard conditions, adding to the hardship. The United States is already grappling with cold weather challenges, and now faces a significant threat: the National Weather Service has issued an alert for one of the most intense blizzards of the decade.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Threat to 30 States</h2>



<p>The National Weather Service (NWS) has stated that the blizzard, originating in the central part of the country, will move eastward over the next few days. Thirty states are under threat, prompting the issuance of alerts.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Snowfall Predicted</h2>



<p>The impact of the blizzard is already being felt in several US states. The weather service predicts the heaviest snowfall in a decade, potentially leading to a significant temperature drop. This could be the most severe snowfall since 2011. Some areas of Indiana and Kansas could see at least 8 inches of snow. Hail and freezing rain are anticipated in parts of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Virginia. Several cities, including Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia, will also experience disruptive snowfall.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">State of Emergency Declared</h2>



<p>Following the NWS alert, states of emergency have been declared in Kentucky, Virginia, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri. The blizzard is also expected to cause temperature drops in states like Mississippi and Florida.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cause of the Weather Change</h2>



<p>The weather service attributes the change to the polar vortex, a cold air mass circulating the Arctic. January 2024 is predicted to be the coldest January in the US since 2011.</p>



<p>The NWS anticipates the impact of the low temperatures will be felt on the US East Coast, where the storm is expected to arrive soon. Around 68 million people in central America will experience significant disruption to their daily lives by Sunday, with extremely hazardous driving conditions. Motorists will face particularly challenging circumstances.</p>
