He led the National Investigation Agency (NIA), India&#8217;s top anti-terrorism organization, from 2013 to 2017, where he handled several high-profile terrorism cases, including the Pathankot airbase attack. <p>Besides his role at the NIA, Sharad Kumar served as the Vigilance Commissioner at the Central Vigilance Commission from 2018 to 2020. He also held the interim post of Central Vigilance Commissioner. His law enforcement career has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the President&#8217;s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1996 and the President&#8217;s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2004.</p>

<p>Sharad Kumar&#8217;s appointment was officially announced on September 29 during the BCCI&#8217;s annual general meeting, and he took charge on October 1. His appointment is for a three-year term, replacing KK Mishra, another former IPS officer from the Haryana cadre. <p>Located at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, on the Kanyakumari Cape, is the temple of Goddess Kanyakumari. The goddess is known as Kumari Amman here. According to legend, the spine of Goddess Sati fell here. Here, the worship of Goddess Bhagwati takes place, which is known by various names such as Kanya Devi, Kanya Kumari, and Bhadrakali across the world.</p>



<p>The temple, surrounded by strong stone walls, has a history of over 3000 years. The temple complex has other temples dedicated to Lord Surya Dev, Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Bala Sundari, and Goddess Vijaya Sundari. The main entrance is through the north gate. The east gate remains closed most of the time and is only opened on special occasions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth: The Natural Beauty is Also Amazing</h2>



<p>The temple&#8217;s natural beauty is also a special feature, as it is situated at the confluence of three seas &#8211; the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Indian Ocean to the south, and the Arabian Sea to the west. <p>According to mythological stories, Lord Parshuram established the idol of Goddess Kanya Kumari. The current temple was built by the Pandya rulers in the 8th century.</p>



<p>Legend has it that the demon Banasura had once imprisoned all the gods. According to the boon, Banasura could only be killed by a bachelor girl. Therefore, the gods prayed to Mother Bhagwati, and she took the form of a virgin girl.</p>



<p>In the meantime, Goddess Bhagwati, in her bachelor form, started performing penance to marry Lord Shiva. Naradji feared that if this marriage took place, Banasura&#8217;s killing would become impossible. Therefore, the gods played a trick and got Banasura killed. Since then, the goddess has been known as Kanyakumari.</p>



<p>Naradji and Lord Parshuram requested the goddess to stay on earth till the end of the Kalyug, which she accepted. Therefore, Lord Parshuram built this temple on the seashore and established the idol of Goddess Kanya Kumari.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth: The Mystery of the Temple</h2>



<p>The idol of the goddess is made of black stone. There are 11 sacred sites inside the temple. The inner complex has three Garbhagriha corridors and the main Navratri Mandap. However, it is not easy to understand or observe all these, as the temple&#8217;s architecture is like a maze. There is a well-called Mool-Gangatirtham in the complex.</p>

Most of these meetings are held in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, but during the tenure of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, it was decided to hold these meetings in different parts of Madhya Pradesh. On October 5, the Madhya Pradesh government&#8217;s cabinet meeting will be held in Singrampur, the capital of Rani Durgavati, which is located in Damoh district and is about 50 km from Jabalpur.</p>



<p>On October 5, Rani Durgavati&#8217;s 500th birth anniversary will be celebrated. On this occasion, the entire cabinet will visit her fort in Singrampur and pay homage to her statue. <p>Rani&#8217;s efficient administration made the state so prosperous that people used to pay taxes on gold coins and elephants. Rani built many lakes, temples, monasteries, wells, and rest houses. She promoted education and knowledge, secured borders, strengthened forts, and herself led the army. She even sacrificed her life by killing herself with a dagger to avoid being captured by Akbar&#8217;s soldiers.</p>



<p>In 1983, the name of Jabalpur University was changed to Rani Durgavati University in her memory. In 1988, the Indian government issued a postage stamp in her honor. In 2018, the Indian Coast Guard launched a patrol vessel named ICGS Rani Durgavati in Visakhapatnam.</p>



<p>The place where Rani sacrificed her life is celebrated as Martyr&#8217;s Day on June 24 every year. Even today, Rani is remembered with respect in stories, songs, and poems. Her fort in Singrampur and Madan Mahal in Jabalpur need to be taken care of. The cabinet meetings being held at these places will increase people&#8217;s affection and respect for these places.</p>
