<p>Inflating a balloon turned fatal for an innocent child. The balloon got stuck in his throat, blocking his airway and causing his death. The balloon obstructed his windpipe, cutting off his breath.</p>



<p>The incident took place in Joganakoppa village, located in the Haliyal taluk of Uttara Kannada district. Naveen Narayan, a class 7 student at a government primary school, was inflating a balloon at his home on Sunday when, by mistake, the balloon slipped into his mouth and got stuck in his throat.</p>



<p>Unable to breathe, the child began to suffocate. In a desperate rush, his family took him to the hospital. Doctors at the Haliyal government hospital managed to remove the balloon, but unfortunately, they could not save him. According to the doctors and police, the child passed away on the way to the hospital. The police have registered a case of unnatural death.</p>

<p>In our childhood, many of us must have enjoyed eating cotton candy. However, the cotton candy being sold today poses a serious health risk to children. Consuming it can increase the risk of cancer. This was uncovered in an investigation carried out in several states, leading to a ban on the production and sale of cotton candy in those areas. Despite this, the production and sale of cotton candy continue unchecked in the district and across the state.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">These states have banned cotton candy</h2>



<p>Currently, three states &#8211; Puducherry, Himachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu &#8211; have completely banned the production and sale of cotton candy. Samples were taken from cities like Solan, Shimla, Bilaspur, and others. Harmful chemicals were found in them. In Himachal Pradesh&#8217;s Solan, seven samples were taken on February 20, 2024, and sent to CTL Kundaghat for testing. Cancer-causing elements were found in them, and subsequently, their production and sale were banned. Similarly, in February, the Tamil Nadu government also banned cotton candy after cancer-causing elements were found in it. Puducherry had already banned it earlier.</p>



<p>Rhodamine B chemical: When cotton candy samples were tested in three states, a chemical called Rhodamine B was found. According to medical experts, this chemical can cause cancer. Therefore, it was banned in all three states.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No samples taken in the district yet</h2>



<p>While cotton candy production and sale have been completely banned in three states, it is still being sold freely in Rajasthan. The situation is such that the health department has not even taken the trouble to collect samples of cotton candy in the district.</p>



<p>Samples of cotton candy will be taken soon. Further action will be taken only after the sample test results are out.</p>

<p>National Education Policy (NEP 2020) is likely to approve this decision soon. This initiative was approved by CBSE&#8217;s curriculum committee recently. Now, it is waiting for the approval of the governing body. Once approved, it will be implemented. This initiative is part of NEP 2020 and will be implemented from the academic session 2026-27.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CBSE is Considering</h2>



<p>CBSE says that work is underway on this plan, and it will depend on new textbooks to determine whether different levels can be created or not. It is also being considered whether separate textbooks should be created for Standard and Advanced levels or whether one book can be used to create two different sets of question papers.</p>

<p><strong>WI vs BAN: </strong>Bangladesh has made history by wiping away a 15-year-old stain of defeat on West Indies&#8217; soil. Not only has Bangladesh won its first Test match against the West Indies on their turf since 2009, but it has also levelled the series 1-1. This victory has improved its statistics, with three wins in the last six Tests. Before this series, Bangladesh had defeated Pakistan in two Tests at home. Although it later lost two matches to India, it has now bounced back with a triumph over the West Indies. Bangladesh secured a 101-run victory in Jamaica, dismissing the West Indies for under 200 runs in both innings.</p>

<p>Bangladesh and West Indies have played 11 Test series so far, with Bangladesh winning two and West Indies winning eight. However, this series has ended 1-1. Bangladesh had last won a Test match on West Indies&#8217; soil in 2009 when it also won the series 2-0. However, the team had been desperate for a win on West Indies&#8217; soil since then.</p>



<p>Talking about the match, Bangladesh had scored only 164 runs in the first innings, which put the team in a difficult position. However, Bangladesh bowled out West Indies for 146 runs in the second innings, with Nayeem Hasan taking five wickets. Bangladesh then scored 268 runs in its second innings and set a target of 286 runs for West Indies.</p>

<p>In response, West Indies&#8217; second innings also ended at 185 runs. Taijul Islam was the star performer for Bangladesh. <p>Churu Road Accident: A major road accident occurred in Churu district of Rajasthan late at night. 5 people died in a head-on collision between two cars. At the same time, 2 people were injured. The accident occurred around 2:30 pm. As soon as the police received the information, they reached the spot. The police admitted the injured to a nearby hospital, where one of the injured was referred to Bikaner in critical condition.</p>



<p>According to the police, the road accident occurred on the Hanumangarh Road Mega Highway near the Bukansar Phanta. At the time of the accident, there were 6 people in the Safari car. Out of which 5 people died. At the same time, one seriously injured person is undergoing treatment at PBM Hospital in Bikaner. Apart from this, another injured person is undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Churu district.</p>

<p>As soon as the police received the information, they reached the spot. With the help of local people, the police managed to pull out the people trapped in the car after a lot of effort. Due to the critical condition, the police took the injured to the hospital in a police jeep. The doctors declared 5 people dead. Apart from this, one injured person was referred to Bikaner. At the same time, one injured person is undergoing treatment at the government hospital.</p>



<p>The deceased include 3 from Dungargarh, 2 from Sardarshahr, and 1 from Sikar.</p>



<p>The accident was so severe that the front parts of both vehicles were destroyed. The police first took the injured to the hospital and then used a crane to move the cars to the side of the road. The accident caused a traffic jam on the Meva Highway for about an hour. The police cleared the jam and restored traffic.</p>

<p>Sir Don Bradman&#8217;s prestigious &#8216;baggy green cap&#8217; was sold for a record 2.63 crore rupees in an auction of rare cricket items in Sydney on Tuesday. The auction house &#8216;Bonhams&#8217; said that Bradman wore this cap during India&#8217;s 1947-48 Australian tour, which is almost 80 years old. This was his last Test series on home soil. According to reports, Bradman had gifted this cap to Indian team manager Pankaj &#8216;Peter&#8217; Kumar Gupta.</p>
